The Harsh Truth Of Life

Let me tell you a story.

The story of a butterfly.

The life of the butterfly life begins as a caterpillar.

When the time is ripe, it forms a pupa and retreats behind the rigid walls.

Within its armor, it transforms into a butterfly. Unheard. Out of sight.

When prepared, it uses its small, sharp claws to make a small opening in the compact, protective chrysalis.

It squeezes through this opening and struggles to carve its way out.

This is a difficult and agonizing process.

But this painful process is essential — as the butterfly squeezes itself out of the small hole, it simultaneously secretes fluids within its body.

The fluid and the struggle it undergoes strengthen the wings.

Once the butterfly steps into the world, the fluid dries.

And, the butterfly takes the first flight of its life!

But, if we were to slit open a large hole prematurely, it would only enfeeble it.

Its wings would never be strong enough to support its flight.

It would simply never fly because the wings never had to struggle.

In the life of a butterfly, it’s the struggle that empowers it.

The wings of change are born of just the right mixture of patience and pain.

The same goes for our lives.

Sometimes, the struggle is necessary for greatness.

Maybe your time to emerge out of your chrysalis hasn’t come yet!

Maybe you are in the process of transforming into something beautiful and great.

I want to ask you a simple question.

Do you think the caterpillar knows that it will turn into a vibrant butterfly?

The answer will be ‘No’.

It just goes on with the process, trusting it with all its efforts. Similarly, when you feel you are insignificant, remember the story of butterflies.

The very moment when you feel your world is over, you will realize it all.

It was a process. You were a caterpillar but you are a colorful butterfly now.

That struggle that you are going through is needed.

You don’t morph into a butterfly the moment you wake up from your slumber.

Growth is a process that might take whole decades.

It takes time. Give yourself that time.

The best of you is yet to come. Everything happens at the right time.

Have faith and trust the process.
